Upgrade of Dated Power Plant Simplified with
Modern Pressure Transmitter

An electric utility cooperative needed to upgrade their 1960's era fossil fuel fired power plant from pneumatic controls to a distributed electronic control system.

Dated power plant upgraded
  • The Instrumentation Engineer wanted to be able to convert the older 3-15psi air signal to 4-20mA current signals for integration into the PLC.
  • He integrated several 0-30psi ranged pressure transmitters from Tel-Tru and adjusted them to the 15psi range.
  • The engineer’s integration was a true success, saving the company both time and money. No additional wires had to be run to the field location to replace the pneumatic transmitters with their electronic counterparts. No piping or air lines modifications were required; simply install the pressure transmitter in the PLC control room.
Tel-Tru pressure transmitters convert pneumatic signals to electronic outputs
  • The Tel-Tru P121 is available in a wide range of configurations for converting pneumatic signals to electronic outputs that will allow interfacing with newer electronic systems. These types of applications may be found in a broad range of markets, including chemical processing, petroleum refining, steel milling, and water/wastewater treatment.
