How does Remo-Tel work?Remo-Tel systems include a temperature sensing device with built-in communication hardware that connects to our subscription cellular network. When the device is powered and connected to the network, it sends temperature readings to the cloud where they are available for viewing on an online dashboard 24/7. Temperature data history is also downloadable in .CSV format. The Remo-Tel constantly measures temperature against a specified safe range. If the temperature goes outside the safe range or if the power to the device is lost, the Remo-Tel system immediately makes a cellular call to the server to report the issue and sends alerts to the designated users in the device settings on the dashboard.
Where will Remo-Tel work?Remo-Tel smart temperature monitoring systems use the AT&T cellular network for operation in the USA and Canada.
The cellular service at my location is relatively weak. Will Remo-Tel still work?We recommend verifying cellular connection with a signal tester when the device is installed in a location that may have weak or no cellular network coverage. Remo-Tel systems transmit minimal data so in areas with marginal cellular coverage a stable and reliable connection may be achieved.
Do I need to add Remo-Tel to my existing cell phone contract? No. The Remo-Tel smart system operates on a unique subscription network plan.
How long will Remo-Tel continue to report in the event of a power outage? All Remo-Tel smart devices have a Lithium-Ion backup battery that is charging when power is supplied. If the power supply is disconnected, the backup battery will operate up to 48 hours and continue to record hourly readings during that period. If the temperature goes out of your preset “safe range” during this time, an alert will immediately be sent to you. Once power is restored, the Remo-Tel system will send a “Power Restored” alert and begin to re-charge the backup battery. Compost Remo-Tel smart devices are powered by an external rechargeable battery pack. If this battery dies, the internal backup takes over and will alert you of low battery. The internal backup re-charges upon replacement of the external battery pack.
How often does Remo-Tel report in with temperature data?Alerts are immediately sent to users by text, email, and/or phone when the device senses low battery, power outage, or temperature outside the user defined safe range.

*Remo-Tel Compost is designed with “low power mode” and less frequent data uploads to extend battery life
When I unplug Remo-Tel Industrial to move it, will it send a power outage alarm?Yes, if you do not power off the device. Holding the power button until the indicator light turns off will prevent the power outage alert.
There may have been a power outage in my facility, but I didn’t get an alert from Remo-Tel. Why?The outlet power it is plugged into needs to be off for about 8-10 seconds before the Remo-Tel system reports it as a power outage. They are designed to ignore small outages and brown outs common in some areas of the country.
What if my Remo-Tel unit fails to connect to the cell network?Signal strength can be affected by an area with a weak signal, electrical interference, atmospheric conditions, network traffic, physical obstacles, etc. If your Remo-Tel device fails to connect, first try to move it to a different location in the area you want to monitor. Typically, higher floors will have better reception than basements. Large metal objects (air handling units, metal walls/roofs, etc.) could inhibit cellular signals from reaching the device. Positioning it near a window may improve reception. If you’re still unable to connect after repositioning your Remo-Tel device to different locations in the area you want to monitor, contact our support line.
According to the history graph, temperature crossed my upper range settings a couple of times, but I only received one alarm. Why?To prevent users from receiving multiple alarms for the same issue, we have designed the Remo-Tel smart temperature monitoring system to remain in alarm mode until the device is reading within at least 3 points (either degrees or percentage) into your defined safe temperature range.
